What people usually don't understand with real estate is that most real estate agents are self-employed, meaning they will need to generate business for themselves. Most brokerages help to some degree through training you how to grow your business or even offering leads to agents. Usually, you will not receive a weekly check, you will only get paid on the deals that you are involved with and close. There are a few exemptions to this rule, but that is the way real estate works. You find a seller, you find a buyer, you help them sell or buy a home, make it to closing then typically you will get a check from your brokerage. The more deals you do the more you make.
